(5/14/03) There is very little quacking going on in Colorado these days now that it has become apparent that Minnesota --the team that humiliated the Divealanche-- is getting their asses handed to them by the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. After three Western Finals games, the team that derailed Colorado has not even scored a goal against the Ducks, further proof that Colorado's late-season charge to the 3rd seed was nothing but smoke and mirrors. Had the Dives somehow survived to face Anaheim, Colorado might not have even lit the lamp!
The facts are clear:
The Ducks team that beat Detroit and Dallas is a proven powerhouse and a legitimate contender for the Stanley Cup.
Meanwhile, the Wild team that beat the Dives was simply doing what any spoiler does in the playoffs... namely, putting a flaky team out of their misery before flaming out themselves.
Interesting sidenote:
Did anyone else catch Bill Clement's comment last night after the Ducks went ahead 1-0?
"The Wild have not yet had to face a goaltender on the level of J.S. Guigere."
Ouch! Whooooooooah doggy!
How many wooden doors and VCR players bit the dust in the Here's Patty household after Clement dropped that little nugget?
